About The Department

VISION: “A competitive academic unit of higher learning known for its excellent graduate programs in Public Administration, Community Development, and Social Work, and for its dedication to the continuing development of man, institutions, communities, and government”.

MISSION: “To produce highly capable, pro-people, and innovative graduates to efficiently and effectively man public entities and non-government organizations as vehicles for the sustainable socio-economic development of Mindanao through the offering of relevant programs in graduate level instruction, research, and extension that are responsive to prevailing societal demands”.

GOALS:

To offer graduate curricular programs in Public Administration, Community Development, and Social Work that produce administrators who are competent, public service-oriented innovative, and imbued with high ethical standards;
To offer short-term courses including trainings to practitioners in current concerns, methods and approaches in local governance;
To conduct research activities on local and national governmental management priorities such as public service delivery, policy analysis and others; and
To establish linkages with the government particularly local government units (LGUs), the voluntary sectors, and other institutions for mental assistance and cooperation toward the advancement of discipline and its practice.

MSU-CPA Builds International Linkage with ISCTE-IUL Portugal

To bring the internationalization endeavor to its greater heights, Mindanao State University- College of Public Affairs engaged with ISCTE-IUL, Lisbon Portugal in International Credit Mobility being the latter as the program country/host institution and the former as the partner sending institution. This endeavor is funded by an ERASMUS grant from 2019 to 2023 where Mindanao State University in its CPA’s graduate programs can send exchange students and faculty/staff to do short-term courses, research, seminars, and the like.

The first batch of CPA faculty (namely: Dean Soraidah Ali, Chairperson of CPA’s Graduate Program Prof. Milhaya Langco, Dr. Christine Joy Octobre (Faculty), Dr. Edna T. Tubilan, Dr. Ansano Ampog (Faculty visited ISCTE IUL Lisbon Portugal last May 9 to 18, 2022. The teaching staff mobility scholarship grant was awarded to each of them in the amount of 3420 euros each.

The first batch of CPA graduate exchange students was; 1. Brian Ven Climaco Bag-ao (Doctor in Public Administration) and 2. Jopler Ruedas (Master in Social Work). Such students had their one semester ( January 2022- June 2022) cross-border education where a number of courses were taken in ISCTE-IUL under the Erasmus KA107 scholarship grant.

Also in the picture are Prof. Maria Dorres Guerreiro (The Vice Rector of Internationalization), Eduardo Rodrigues ( Coordinator, IRO of ISCTE-IUL.), and Prof. Alejandra Ortiz.

The CPA Graduate Studies Department is now offering Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) and Master in Social Work (MSW). The new programs commenced in 2021 which have given access to advanced social work education for Registered Social Workers in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and across Mindanao.

ASPAP Members Elect CPA Dean Soraidah Ali as Vice-President for Mindanao

Assoc. Prof. Soraidah B. Ali, Dean of the College of Public Affairs, is elected as Vice-President for Mindanao of the Association of Schools of Public Administration in the Philippines (ASPAP) Inc.

The new set of board members will lead the Public Administration Schools for 2022 to 2025 towards continuous innovation and excellence.
